The Committee:

  1. noted progress with the legislative renewal programme
  2. noted trends in accidents and ill health in the coal mining industry
  3. considered and agreed proposals to introduce voluntary reporting of non reportable manriding train derailments
  4. commended UK Coal on work addressing Revitalising Health and Safety
  5. reviewed research confirming the suitability of Mines Rescue arrangements
  6. agreed a representative from Coalpower Limited would be invited to join the Committee as an Adviser Member
  7. noted the dates of future meetings for 2002
