HSE Strategy and Plan

Strategy consultation

HSE is running a three month consultation process on our new strategy and we are calling on all our partners to take part. Consultation started 3 Decemeber 2008 and ends on 3 March 2009.

Business Plan

The Business Plan sets out the corporate priorities for 2008/09 to take forward the Strategy and summarises the key activities and interventions that the Health and Safety Executive have planned for the coming year.

The Strategy

HSE’s Strategy is aimed at helping achieve targets. It brings a clearer focus on the overall direction and gives priorities for the health and safety system as a whole.

The Strategy is designed to promote our vision: to see Health and Safety as a cornerstone of a civilised society and, with that, to achieve a record of workplace health and safety that leads the world.

The HSE Board are currently in the process of reviewing the existing strategy to ensure that it is still fit for purpose now an will remain so in the future.

Partnership with Local Authorities

HSE recognises that to raise the profile of health and safety is a vital component of worker and public protection and an intrinsic part of community health and wellbeing. To achieve these aims we need to work together – and with others – in close partnership.

In order to achieve our aims and better overall health and safety, HSE has documented its agreement to work closely with Local Authorities.
