First aid at work: Update on draft guidance

 HSE has recently conducted a consultation exercise on draft guidance for employers and first aid training organisations which incorporated the changes to first aid training and approval arrangements. The draft for employers is a revision of HSE’s current guidance in: First aid at work – The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 – Approved Code of Practice and Guidance (L74). The corresponding draft for first aid training providers is a revision of the current document available on HSE’s website: How to gain and maintain approval for first aid at work training under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.

A report on the findings of the consultation conducted on these documents was published in March 2008.  As a result of the comments made by consultees, HSE is currently modifying the draft guidance notes. The timescale for publication of the final versions is outlined in a separate update.
