Human factors
Each of the two Strategic Programmes (Major Hazards and Fit3) utilises human factors to help address the various topics of concern. Some of the projects are enforcement related - such as recent campaigns focusing on Back injuries and the routine evaluation of safety cases in the major hazards sectors - others are concerned with assisting the development of policy. The scientific knowledge underpinning decisions is important and so a significant part of the human factors effort is concerned with monitoring and evaluating the relevant research literature and where appropriate commissioning further research.
Research into human factors topics are generally commissioned under the appropriate Strategic Programme. Where research is commissioned for a crosscutting issue or for other purposes, details will be included here in the future.
Information about completed HSE-commissioned research in human factors can currently be found under various topics on HSE’s Research pages. Short-cuts are provided to some of them here:-
