Since 2001 OCNS has produced an annual report entitled "The state of security in the civil nuclear industry and the effectiveness of security regulation". The document fulfils the requirements placed on the Director, Civil Nuclear Security to report on the state of the security in the civil nuclear industry and to provide an assessment of the effectiveness of regulation in the UK.
Importers must apply to OCNS for a licence to import nuclear materials from outside the European Community.
The purpose of this guidance document which was produced by OCNS in April 2005 is to assist officials and others involved with the civil nuclear industry to manage the risks associated with compliance with their legal obligations. In support of the Government’s desire for transparency, this guide carries no protective marking. Furthermore, it provides guidance only. It is not a statutory instrument and has no force in law.
