With only weeks until the 20th anniversary of the Piper Alpha disaster, it is entirely appropriate that the theme should be the contribution that every employee can make to the effective control and management of major hazards offshore and to a safer working environment. Delegates will hear presentations from colleagues in industry and will share experiences of good practice in action and explore ways in which to raise workplace health and safety standards further, through participation. Lord McKenzie, the Minister with responsibility for Health and Safety, will also be in attendance and will open the afternoon session.
'To register for the event, please telephone Louisa Cooper on 020 7717 6086 or email louisa.cooper@hse.gsi.gov.uk as soon as possible, but no later than Friday 4th April 2008.'
The IRF Safety Award (Carolita Kallaur Award) is a means of giving recognition and promoting further the contribution individuals and or companies have made to national and global safety within the offshore industry.
The safety award was presented at the International Regulators' Offshore Safety Conference in December 2007. The presentations took place before a distinguished international audience comprising senior regulatory officials from 30+ nations and offshore industry executives. The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), the Netherlands Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Association (NOGEAPA), and Petrobras received the award.
