SIMTARS (The Safety in Mines Testing and Research Station)

Status: Division of the Queensland Government Department of Natural Resources and Mines engaging in research and development, certification and technical services in the areas of occupational health and safety for coal and metalliferous mines, quarries and other industries.

Principal functions and activities: Simtars mission is to provide research, development, testing, and certification and associated services, which will minimise fatalities, disabling and lost time injuries and diseases and which primarily focus on the mines and energy industries.
