Status: CCOHS is the national Canadian information resource in occupational health and safety, created by an Act of Parliament in 1978 "to promote the fundamental right of Canadians to a healthy and safe working environment". It is governed by a council representative of governments, labour and employers and reports to the Ministry of Labour.
Principal functions and activities: CCOHS provides occupational health and safety information through its computerised information service on Web, CD-ROM and intranet, plus a free and confidential Inquiries Service. The computerised information is available by subscription both online via the Internet at http://www.ccohs.ca and on CD-ROM for networks and intranets.CCOHS services are provided in both English and French. There is a free Internet service "OSH Answers" at http://www.ccohs.ca/oshanswers/
