Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP)

Principal functions and activities: BCSP sets academic and experience standards for professional safety practice, conducts examinations to evaluate the knowledge of professional safety practitioners and awards the designation Certified Safety Professional (CSP) to those candidates who meet educational and experience requirements and successfully pass the Safety Fundamentals and Comprehensive Practice Examinations and meet recertification requirements every five years.

Office of Safety, Health and Working Conditions

Status: Federal statistical programme within the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor

Principal functions and activities: The Office of Safety Health and Working Conditions conducts the Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses and the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries. The annual survey provides injury and illness information by industry and for the more serious injuries and illnesses information about the injured or ill worker and the circumstances of the injury or illness. The annual census provides information about fatally injured workers and the events leading to the fatality.
