Free health and safety advice for Edinburgh’s community organisations

Community organisations in Edinburgh are being invited to update their health and safety procedures by attending a free event next week.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the STUC and the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives are working in partnership to improve health and safety and to provide free assistance and guidance on health and safety to charities, voluntary organisations and their workers.

Topics covered will include risk assessment and legislation, with emphasis on worker involvement in the process; the purpose of having a safety policy; how a risk assessment helps to prevent accidents in the workplace; workers rights and the role of the trades unions.

The event is being held on Monday (30th June) from 11am – 1pm at Norton Park, 57 Albion Road Edinburgh. Lunch will be provided and there will be speakers from the HSE, STUC and SCHWL. Free online training is available in conjunction with Stow College.

Anyone wishing to attend must register in advance by contacting Safety Development Advisers John Keenan or Martin Gaughan on  01698 208177 or 01698 208173.
