Regulation of social care

There are three national bodies that are responsible for the regulation of social care in England, Scotland and Wales.

For England and Wales there are Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between HSE and the relevant care regulatory body and local authorities which defines responsibility for enforcing health and safety in care establishments. The MOU are being revised to reflect the establishment of the Commission for Healthcare Audit and Inspection (CHAI) and Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI)
