The rate of reported over-3-days injuries in wholesale and retail trade has fallen over the period 1999/2000 to 2007/08 (302.1 per 100 000 employees in 2007/08p). The rate of reported major injury rose 1999/2000 to 2003/04, and has since fallen (76.3 per 100 000 employees in 2007/08p).
Relative to other industries a higher proportion of reported injuries were caused by moving vehicles, and falling objects.
Self-reported and THOR-GP surveillance scheme data indicates the rate of work-related ill-health is lower in wholesale and retail trade than other industries, in the most recent data.
